We have just launched a new Block of the Month program This goes with That. This fabulous program is based on Sue Daley's lovely Playing with Paper Pack 37.

A fun eight or twelve month program indulging in rich reproduction fabrics and filled with the fun of fussying cutting fabulous fabrics into beauitful designs.

We have over twenty different arrangements of the papers into the 2 1/2" hexagons and still counting!

Each month you recieve:

Two different shapes of pre-cut papers
Five fat eigths perfect for fussing cutting
Five fat sixteenths to complement the fat eigths

In the first four months you recieve two perspex templates plus a full colour ideas sheet with helpful hints on cutting and assembling the shapes each month. The final quilt assembly option is also up to you. Finish it off with triangles, diamonds or just join the hexagons together.

Classic French elegance is captured beautifully in this collection of lush botanical designs, some featuring delicate, sinuous line work to coordinate with the engraved architectural print derived from an antique book the Sisters acquired on one of their many flea market jaunts.

Accuquilt GO!

Are you looking for an easier way to cut your quilts? At the Sydney Show we were demonstrating the Accuquilt Baby GO! Cutter - Like a hot knife through butter. Both Judy and I have fallen in love with the ease and simplicity of this cutter. Even 5 year old Thomas had to have a go.

The cutters cut up to 6 layers of fabric (or four with fusible web). Judy has been whipping up quilts like mad and I have been having a ball with my Christmas Quilts. Once you have the cutter, choose your favourite die, matching cutting board and you are off!

We have both the Baby GO! and the Accuquilt GO! in stock along with a range of dies. We can order the rest and they are arriving within 9 days.

The Baby GO! is very affordable. We have them available and they are just $165. It currently has 43 compatible dies. They have been selling like hotcakes both at the show and since we've had them on the website.

Even five year old Thomas has got into the excitement deciding he needed a Winter 2011 Quilt.

This quilt whips up in an afternoon and can easily be made by a child under supervision. It's fully reversible and lovely to snuggle under.

If you'd like to make it up in a different colourway, just purchase half a metre of four different flannels and we'll include the pattern for free.

Show Competition and Sue's latest creations

Sue Daley's latest creation has just arrived and it is stunning. The beautiful gypsy garden features Sue's classic combination of needleturn applique and English paper piecing. The quilt also has some wool applique for added texture and is framed with clamshells. You'll be able to see it and Sue at the Craft and Quilt Fair from the 22nd to the 26th June.
We have it available as a pattern (with papers), a block of the Month and starter pack which includes 10 fat eigths of beautiful reproduction prints.
There are also some great pink and purple notions in including a pink rotary cutter, pink rotating mat and a cutter cubby for keeping all your bits in.

We've been busy all hours getting ready for the Sydney show.

Chris and I had a lovely time last night (with a night bottle of bubbly) putting together flannel fat quarters packs plus some great value bundles for the show. There'll be packs of 5 fat quarters from just $9.95 - that's $2 each!

New Moda Pre-cuts

We have a lovely selection of the Moda Pre-cuts. The yardage is due in later in the year but you can grab the pre-cuts now and get started on your projects.

"Lately Arrived from London" will delight fans of early calicoes and chintzes. The collection recreates fabrics from the turn of the 19th century when Americans imported their cottons. Traders brought the world’s luxury goods to wharves in Philadelphia, Boston and New York. Each piece is named for a trading ship that sailed into American harbours---the Charming Betsy, the Brigantine Sally, the Ship Surprise. Colourways echo natural dyes with colours named for the styles of the times and prints range from a neat geometric and leafy sprigs suitable for a lady’s dress to "furniture calicoes," the chintz-scale florals.

Primitive Gatherings has released a lovely neutral range called Little Gatherings.

Textured tea-dyed backgrounds are adorned with a range of dainty little reproduction prints, some as subtle tone on tones and some with a dramatic pop of black. Colonial Prints

We have had such a lovely range of reproduction fabrics come in last week - Colonial Print from Blue Hill Fabrics. The beautiful and rare poison greens, purples and cheddars are here in one spectacular collection from Sara Morgan!

These hard-to-find reproductions are authentic to the labour-intensive original dyed fabrics. The greens, for example, were a “double process” colour. First, the fabric had to be dyed yellow,... then dyed again with Indigo or Prussian Blue to produce the vivid colour named for its resemblance to the arsenic-based and toxic “Scheele’s Green” used in wallpaper throughout the 19th Century.

Samuel Widmer developed an easier process of printing the fabric with mix of china blue and tin oxide (a mordant), and then dyeing the fabric yellow. The yellow would only adhere to areas with the tin oxide and produce a green image.

The bright cheddars and vivid purples were achieved with natural dyeing elements and were overdyed to produce their intense hues.

Not until 1875, when synthetic dyes were developed, did these colours become more prevalent in fabrics. Sara’s collection features the authentic vintage prints of the mid-19th century.

Vanity Fair

Four lovely fabrics called Vanity Fair have just come in.

These are beautiful reproduction fabrics by Nancy Gere. These fabrics were selected from 2 quilts from Nancy's archive and feature colours that were becoming popular towards the end of the 1960's: dark plums, reddish pinks and clear blues.

I absolute adore the wavy stripe fabric up top and love the deep plum one below. Both would be so fabulous fussy cut!

For those of you looking for fabrics for engineers and construction workers (big or little), diggers and dozers is for you!

Fabulous themed fabrics with wheels, bulldozers, cranes, dump trucks, cement trucks and so much more. I just loved this fabric!

I guess I do need to 'fess up that although I run a patchwork shop I acually have an engineering degree. I absolutely feel in love with the contruction scene below, with the cranes laying the pipes, building the bridgesgrading the roads (and stopping the traffic). I do hope you have someone who will love this well!

Yes I have been pattern writing again! We have two more beautiful baby quilt kits packed up and ready to go now! The first is the Wiggles and Giggles pinwheel quilt. We do so love out pre-cuts. Our latest fabulous arrivals are loaded up. Firstly there is It's a Hoot by Momo. This one is so much fun! It has been very popular since it arrived and Judy snaffled a layer cake to turn into something magnificant (so just watch this space!)
City Weekend has also been loaded up. This is the first range Moda has by Oliver & S who make cute little kids patterns as well. It's a modern kids range! This would be very cute made up with Circled in Love.

For something a little more traditional there is Fresh Cottons by Fig Tree Quilt. Joanna always has such lovely soft colours in her ranges.
